Decathlon to cater to sports enthusiasts

Sri Lankans are usually very passionate about pursuing in some kind of sport. For this they will need suitable equipment including clothing. Many sportsmen spend a lot of time choosing their equipment and clothing so that they can look smart on the field.

Many leading sportsmen are wrapped up to showcase their sporting products, such as bats and clothing of a cricketer. They are even trapped to showcase some food items on advertisements appearing on television.

To cater to all the needs of sports persons, a new sports goods store was opened yesterday at a spacious location at Battaramulla. The name of this store is Decathlon and is prominently located next to the Buddhadasa ground at Pannipitiya Road, in Battaramulla.

Decathlon is a unique sports store that showcases 2500 products to 50 sports. The store is spread across 1200 square metres which is dedicated to cater to sports enthusiasts from beginners to advanced. It also offers a 500 square metre access playground for football and multi-sports events such as basketball, cycling and trekking. The store will be opened from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The building is put up on a former go-karting track which is spacious with ample space for parking as well.

The three people at the top of this store are Etienne Mafart, a Frenchman who is the country leader of Decathlon, Vatsal Pant of India is the Store leader while Sharmila Subramaniam is the sports leader.

“Decathlon is committed to converting people to adopt healthy lifestyles through fitness and sports,” said Mafart in typical French accent.
