Rukman Wekadapola with Mike Tyson
Rukman Wekadapola, a three stars international boxing referee has been selected to referee at the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina that began on October 9 and at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships to be held in New Delhi, India from November 13 to 25.
An old boy of Pilimatalawa Central College, Wekedapola is a former winner of the Stubbs Shield boxing meet in the year 1987 and started officiating as a referee after leaving school in the year 2000.
He is attached to the Department of Education as a teacher and is the only official from this Department to be selected for the Games.
