Ladies College wins water polo title over Visakha

Ladies College Colombo defeated Visakha Vidyalaya at the 15th annual water polo encounter concluded last week at the Sugathathasa Stadium pool.

After a nail-biting battle Ladies’ College defeated the Visakhians with a score of 10-7 marking the first time in seven years to win the Under-19 encounter.

The goals for Ladies College were scored by Asini Molligoda (3), Dunyasha Hewagama (3), Kanchana Swaminathan (2) and Rheanna David (2). For Visakha Janisha Katuwapitiya, Januly de Zoysa, Savini Gunawardene, Davisi Warnakula and Ayani Nagahwatte scored.

A feature of the game was Ladies College’s goal keeper Talisha Yogendranathan saving many shots at goal and ensured victory for her team.

Visakha won the Under-15 Gunewardana Challenge Shield with a score of 9-2.

Ladies College was captained by Anielka Varia, coached by Zafar Zainudeen and assisted by Kanishka Fernando.

Visakha was captained by Janisha Katuwapitiya and coached by Shan Lakshitha.
