New coaches

Trinity College has named its coaches to serve as new junior rugby coaches of the school. They are Y.M.S. Ratnayake who will continue as the under-12 coach and the under-14 will be M. Ramzi El Dakka while the under-16 coach is A. Rankothge who was earlier involved in coaching at the same school and under-18 coach is Saliya Kumara.

Trinity– Royal hockey

The annual Trinity – Royal hockey encounter which was played for J.C.A. Corea Trophy was won 1-0 by Royal led by Uchitha Wasudeva played at the Asgiriya Stadium last Saturday.

It was an interesting and good game of hockey played under wet conditions. Trinity led by B.M. Edirisinghe played a good game but failed to score.

The match was played under the distinguished patronage of J.A.D. Shaw Wilson, the vice principal of Trinity College and a top cricketer produced by Royal College. This was the 13th encounter and these two schools first played a hockey match in 1955 which was a draw.

Boom in rugby coaches

Kandy’s rugby school products are coaching five out of the eight rugby clubs and may soon qualify to coach all the clubs. Most of the clubs today queue up for coaches from Kandy. As it is today, Kandy coaches will head the coaches - the defending champions Kandy SC will be coached by Trinitian Sean Wijasinghe, CH & FC by Kingswoodian Ronnie Ibrahim, CR & FC also by a Kingswoodian Nilufer Ibrahim, Air Force SC by Antonian Nihal “Viper” Gunarathne and Navy SC by Kingswoodian DUM Jayatillake.

Kingswood cricket squad

Fourth year coloursman Deegayu Bandara leads Kingswood that is packed with freshers and former St. Anthony’s College cricketer Prasad Ranawaka as the coach. The coaching consultant is Malcolm Perera and POG is Lanka Francis - Deputy Principal.

Capt.), Uthpala Jayalath, Harshana Wickremasinghe, Achala Bogodawatte, Dumindu Damishka, Lakmal de Silva, Devinda Dissanaike, Kevin Anthony, Mahasen Ranasinghe, Adeepa Ratnayake, Mahindula Ediriweera, Navodya Weerasinghe, Kesara Pananwela, Vinuka Pussapitiya.

Inter-House Chess

Trinity College middle school inter-house chess tournament for 2018 was held recently. It was held for Under-13 and Under-15 . The tournament was played as five second splits and the winner was decided by the rules. Results Under-13 - 1st –Pilcher, 2nd – Sahayam, 3rd – Gibson, 4th –Squellary, 5th – Saunders; Under-15 - 1st –Sahayam, 2nd – Saunders, 3rd – Squellary, 4th –Gibson, 5th – Pilcher.
