Chinese Ambassdor calls on new PM

The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Cheng Xueyuan called upon the newly appointed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (27) in Colombo.

According to Embassy sources the purpose of the visit wdoras to congratulate PM Mahinda Rajapaksa on behalf of the People’s Republic of China and President Xi Jinping.

The Chinese leader had been a close friend of PM Rajapaksa through out his administration during 2005 to 2014 when China assisted Sri Lanka in crucial global events such as the UNHRC sessions.

China also became one of the top development partners in Sri Lanka in the post war era.
