Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa invited the international community to support the new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday, October 26.
Addressing the media after Mahinda Rajapaksa was sworn in as the new Prime Minister, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said that the international community extended its support to another person after the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime was defeated and they saw what happened in this country thereafter. “So I request request them not to allow the country to deteriorate,” Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said.
“I urge all of you to support Mahinda Rajapaksa as he is the one who can restore normalcy in this country. We should develop the country and protect it and give what the people need.”
He said that the appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Premier will boost confidence among investors and invited them to come forward to develop the country without fear.
He was confident that this country could be developed, adding that although it was a challenge, the new government could face any issue like it handled the three decade internal war.
