The annual sports prize giving of Dharmasoka College was held recently with M. Sasith Nipun Piyumantha being adjudged the Sportsman of the Year and National Chess Champion Sayuni Gihansa Jayaweera declared the sportswoman of the year. The award for the upcoming sportsman was won by Thisal Manjith Piyumantha and the award for upcoming sportswoman by Anarkali de Silva. The Outstanding Sportsman of 2017 was won by Shamika Hasaranga and the Outstanding Sportswoman 2017 by Shashini Himasha. The upcoming sportsman of 2017 was Hiruna Warusavitha and the upcoming sportswoman 2017 Kavishka Kavindi. The prize giving was organized by the sports committee of the College under the direction of principal Hasitha Kesara Veththamuni and Sports Director WAR Gurusingha to honour the 300 sportsmen and women of Dharmasoka College who won national and international tournaments. The chief guest was past pupil Major General Bimal Vithanage and the event was graced by past vice principal Vikum Piyalal and others at the Thomas Silva auditorium (Text and picture by Anuradha Priyadharshana)
