No pensions for 58 ex-MPs

Following the dissolution of Parliament by President Maithripala Sirisena on Friday, a large number of Parliamentarians who were elected to the House for the firs time, will lose their entitlement to a pension.

According to stipulated laws, a member of Parliament should complete five years in service to qualify for a pension at retirement. Fifty-eight members who will lose their pension are:

Kader Masthan, Hector Appuhamy, Nalaka Prasad Colonne, Aravindh Kumar, Malith Jayathilake, Sisira Kumara Abeysekara, Thushara Indunil Amarasena, Velu Kumar, Ananda Aluthgamage, Kaveendiran Kodeeswaran, Chandima Gamage, Kavinda Heshan Jayawardana, Mylvaganam Thilakarajah, Mayantha Dissanayake, Mohamadu Nazeer, Indika Anuruddha, H.R. Sarathie Dushmantha, Kanchana Wijesekara, Prasanna Ranatunga, Prasanna Ranaweera, Tharanath Basnayake, Niroshan Premarathna, Sanath Nishantha Perera, Piyal Nishantha de Silva, Anuradha Jayaratne, D.V. Chanaka Dinushan, Sisira Jayakody, Angajan Ramanathan, S.
