Many entries expected for Senior International Badminton

Already over a hundred entries have been received from several foreign countries to participate in the Colombo Senior International Badminton Tournament to be held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium from November 26 to 28.

The tournament organized by Ceylon Masters Badminton Association expect more entries with the closing date being November 12.

Entries have already been received from India, Thailand, Malaysia, China, Chinese Taipei, Australia, Nepal, New Zealand, Indonesia and Hong Kong. Sri Lanka will be entitled to field the most number of players. The tournament will be run under BWF stipulated Rules and Regulations and specific Rules of the Ceylon Masters Badminton Association as directed by the Tournament Director. The tournament will be managed by a competent panel of officials which include Internationally Accredited personnel. The tournament has received the blessings of the World Badminton Federation (WBF) and the Ministry of Sports in Sri Lanka. Entries could be sent online to https://ceylonmaters.com/index.php/online-registration-portal/, or alternatively to 284 Vauxhall Street, Colombo 2. The entry fee for foreign competitors is US$ 25 per event.

A player can enter a maximum of three events while the scoring system will be based on the best of three games of 15 rally points. The Events and Age Categories are 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+. Events to be worked off at the tournament are the Men’s and Women’s singles and doubles and Mixed doubles.

The sponsors for the tournament are Mobil, 3M, Victor and Headly and Rovin Ads.

Winners and runners-up are to receive gold and Silver medals in addition to cash awards while semi-finalists will be awarded Bronze medals according to the organisers.
