Kandy should have it easy over Police

18 November, 2018

Kandy Sports Club will be hoping to win their second successive match of the season when they meet Police SC at Nittawela today.

Kandy SC has won the League for the 19th season, the highest by any club and they will be determined to win this encounter convincingly after a poor display in the first game against the Airmen at Ratmalana.

Although this match is being played over here in the hills, this is the champions home and they will be confident ahead of this encounter as they have dominated the fixture with the cops over the years. Kandy SC’s coaching team Sean Wijansighe and Fazil Marija expects a tough challenge from the policemen.

In this game they’ll have to come up with a lot of passion and physicality and hope for a good start from the kick off in achieving a quality performance.

The focus of the cops will be much on defence and the Nittawela side should not allow them to play so quickly, whether it’s off quick line-out throws or quick taps.

Kicking the ball should make sure they also chase it and don’t give the cops the opportunity to play the quick line-out.

All players from both teams are good and should give their best with the ball in hand.

Head-to-head, there will be plenty of intriguing battles across but one duel to keep an eye on is the one between the scrum-halves. For the Kandy SC it is an established presentation of their starting line-up .

The forwards of the two sides will be important links between them and the outside backs will also be expected to dictate the pace of the game. Whoever comes out on top in this battle should be on the winning side at the end of the game when referee Sarath Madugalle blows the final whistle.
