OSFA fund-raiser to help children with DS

18 November, 2018

‘One Stage For All’ (OSFA), a charity set up by immediate school-leavers, will give a helping hand to children with Downs Syndrome (DS). Their very first event a ‘Spend a Day’ for differently-abled children will be held on December 2 at the Royal College MAS arena.

The ultimate goal of these youth is to build a centre for these children. However, as it is a not for profit organisation, they hopes to achieve this through various fund-raisers. The event on December 2, will draw society’s attention towards them and to give the children an opportunity to move with the public, said the organisers. The aim of the project is to “make an impact, to dispel the myths associated with children having DS,” said Kaveen Athuraliya, a committee member.

Young singers and actors such as Pooja Umashankar, Nadeemal Perera, Ridma Weerawardena and Dinakshi Priyasad will participate.OSFA hopes to invite around 300 children with DS for the event. To-date they had received confirmation from over 150 children from around the country, said the organisers.

The OSFA has partnered with the Interact Club of D.S. Senanayake College Colombo, Events by Tara, Chocolatte youth magazine and Butter Boutique to conduct the event.

OSFA invites those interested to join them by volunteering, sponsoring and participating in the event on December 2 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. More information could be obtained through the charity’s official FaceBook and Instagram pages Onestage official or by calling 0773335516.
