“When it comes to a destination wedding we need to have more capacity. We have a special variety of lilies known as the rose lily which is only available with Lassana Flora. Other florists are also growing lilies in their nurseries but when it comes to the rose lily it is only available with us.”
Bandara explains, “When it comes to weddings there are different themes for Church weddings, Poruwa ceremony weddings and reception ceremonies. We do bouquets as well. We do bridal bouquets, bridesmaids and all the varieties of bouquets and also the head dresses and coat flowers and floral jewellery.
“For example, if the customer has a budget and a dream in their mind our designers can add value. If we stick to the specific packages with a budget and a theme, those materials won’t suit all locations, maybe the hotel or the hall is different.
“We have cool room facilities, skilled florists, a separate department for bouquet making and a carpentry team to make the structures and do the painting.
“Another main strength is our designers who do a fabulous job. They select the designs and make suggestions to the clients. These are all original designs. Our Creative Director, Tharindu Godakumbura is in charge of all creativity aspects and makes sure the client gets the proper idea on how the final look will be. You could say we have a very creative team and have the capacity to create the dreams of the client. Our main focus is weddings but we do birthday parties, anniversaries, engagements, and all things connected with decorations.
“Even for a small party, if they want a floral arrangement we focus on the floral decorations plus the lighting, marquees, different structural designs and flooring.
The company has nine showrooms and a bakery in Haberakara, Athurugiriya where they bake cakes – mainly birthday cakes and any other gifting cakes and through the gifting website, people can send cakes with flowers.
Marketing Manager, Malsha Fonseka says, “We are also planning to do wedding cakes. The bakery was started about three years ago. We have come a long way to become the largest flower grower in Sri Lanka and we are supporting other businesses too.
“We have plans to expand more in terms of flower growing. When it comes to the online store where people can buy on line flowers, cakes, chocolates and gifts, we deliver to anywhere in the country. We have a delivery system where anyone from overseas too can book with us to send gifts to their loved ones anywhere in Sri Lanka. We also export flowers which is a small part of our business.”
Bandara adds, “The main thing for weddings is that we do a free consultation for clients. We can provide flowers at a minimal rate because our main competitors get flowers from us at a retail rate. For decorations, the cost of flowers is minimal with us when compared to others.
