The TNA said that it will support a UNF Government and it is the same thing the Joint Opposition said during the past three years, MP Kanchana Wijesekara said.

Addressing the media at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Headquarters at Battaramulla on Friday he said still Mahinda Rajapaksa has the majority in Parliament and the Speaker should say what took place in Parliament from November 14-16 is illegal and make arrangements to submit a fresh No Confidence Motion under proper Standing Orders. Then Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will face and win it. According to the MP, the Speaker purposely ignored the instructions of the President and that led to a conflict in Parliament. There is no anarchy in the country. Lawlessness is found only in the Parliament.

When the Joint Opposition was battling to win the rights of the Opposition the Speaker always said he was following the orders of the President and party leaders but strangely today he cannot do the same.

The Government will fight back if the UNP takes legal action against the appointment of 7,000 Samurdhi officers who have been serving since 1995. They have not granted new appointments. Only the appointments granted to them have been implemented by putting the relevant procedure into action, he said.

MP D.V.Chanaka said that every evening the UNP waits for a breaking news but they come with a sad face the following morning. Now the Parliamentary proceedings are taking place without an Order Paper, standing orders or anything else. Usually The Parliament proceedings take place only once in two weeks under a timetable made known at the beginning of the year. Every day around Rs. 30 million of public funds is spent for the Parliament. The these funds can be saved if the UNP stops the mud slinging campaign against PM Mahinda Rajapaksa and praising the Speaker on a stage set up in front of Siri kotha.

It is good if Sajith Premadasa becomes the Leader of the UNP because then the entire country will realise his incapability. Now it is only the people in Hambantota who know it.

The Government can easily win two-thirds majority at the next election if he contests.

The JVP is already having rooms in Temple Trees and therefore they do not need more rooms from that hotel, he said.

Southern Provincial Council member Isuru Dodangoda said the country is not in a state of anarchy except for Parliament. The people want an election. As soon as he is appointed, the PM will offer a host of relief to people.
