Akbar Brothers emerged champions of the Mercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) ‘C’ division tournament beating Sampath bank 59-52. Akbar Brother drew first blood and held a 22-18 lead at the short whistle.
Despite a 15 point lead for the victors at one stage, Sampath Bankers clawed back in the last quarter but fell short due to the brilliance of Akbar Brothers.
Dimitri Grebe was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the tournament while Sanketha Jayaratne was adjudged Player of the Game scoring 15 points. Chanuka Jayasuriya top scored for Sampath Bank with 21 points.
