Veteran athletic coach Yogananda Wijesundara (left) was awarded a life time sports award at the fourth annual Silk Sports Awards held at the BMICH on Friday. Thilaka Jinadasa the national netball coach received the award for the Most Outstanding Coach while Rear Admiral Shemal Fernando received the award for the Most Outstanding Academic Achiever of the Year. Suranga Lakmal and Lasith Malinga received the Best Cricketer of the Year award and the Most Popular Sportsman of the Year awards respectively. (Text and picture by Dhammika Ratnaweera)
