NOC auditorium named after Hemasiri Fernando

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) auditorium has been named the Hemasiri Fernando Auditorium at a ceremony held last Wednesday.

Immediate past president of the NOC Hemasiri Fernando unveiled the plaque on this occasion while senior officials of the NOC, President Suresh Subaramanium, Secretary Maxwell de Silva, Treasurer Senaka Ranasinghe, Vice Presidents Sumith Edirisinghe, Major General Sampath Fernando the chief de Staff of the Army, former Treasurer Gamini Jayasinghe and Assistant Secretary Chandana Liyanage were also present at this occasion.

Fernando served as NOC President during the period of 1997 to 2017 and considered the man behind the success of the new NOC building at Torrington Place.

Earlier there was no proper place for the NOC and Fernando saw to it that the NOC had its own building with all facilities.

This NOC auditorium is equipped with an all-audio and video system with all facilities.
