Sri Lanka stretched by Afghanistan

A valuable all-round performance by Kamindu Mendis steered Sri Lanka to beat Afghanistan by one wicket with four balls to spare in an Emerging Team cricket encounter played at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Afghanistan batted first and scored 210 with Karim Janat top scoring on 68 runs.

In reply Sri Lanka strolled along to score 211 for 9 in the last over. Kamindu Mendis batted best to top score with 71 runs. He grafter his runs off 98 deliveries and hit eight fours.
