Mahoora Tented Safari Camps scooped the ‘Best Small Accommodation Provider’ at the recent Sri Lanka Tourism Awards 2018.

The winners also fulfilled prerequisite criteria including contributing significantly towards service excellence in the tourism industry.

As part of eco and adventure tourism entity Eco Team, the Mahoora Tented Safari Camps offers diverse habitats ensuring a luxurious tented camping experience uniquely blending with the surroundings.

Founder CEO, Eco Team (Pvt) Ltd., Anuruddha Bandara said, “We are delighted that Mahoora Tented Safari Camps have been recognised for offering a haven of tranquil luxury to match our landscapes. We are also incredibly honoured to receive this Award which recognises our commitment to guests’ experience.”

For over two decades, the Mahoora Tented Safari camps have been marketed and established based on the concept of private Safari camping. Today they are celebrated as a game changer in transforming Sri Lankan’s wildlife tourism.

Through Mahoora’s dedication to environmentally conscious hospitality and sustainable conservation it has achieved many firsts such as the only Tented Safari Camp to obtain partnership from Travellife and the first Tented Safari Camp in the world to go carbon neutral.

“As we continue to set the bar high in private tented safari camps, this has also enabled Sri Lanka to compete in the global wildlife tourism arena,” Bandara said.

Mahoora conducts recruitment mainly at field level for its raw, unskilled labour. This enables the company to focus on planned approaches to develop employees by focusing on training, development and mentoring programmes.

“By providing employment at grass root level, we develop employees and enhance their skills. This also contributes towards building their livelihoods and also those of their families. It has been extremely satisfying to watch our people and their families grow,” said Bandara.
