Milo begins New Year with bicycle parade

Milo held a bicycle parade by providing over 1,000 children with mountain bikes last week.

The participants chosen via a scratch-card SMS competition in October last year, pedalled their way through Colombo from the Sports Ministry grounds and back again to the starting point, where celebrations were held with a carnival.

Nestlé Category Marketing Manager Mohamed Ali said, “As a brand that advocates the importance of nutrition and an active lifestyle, we embarked on our ‘Win 1,000 Mountain Bikes’ campaign again.”We want to encourage children to lead a healthier lifestyle with their families by cycling from the start of the year. We are overwhelmed by the consumer response we have received for the campaign for the fourth consecutive year. It is a reflection of the strong trust and love consumers have for the brand,” he said.

The event focused on instilling healthy eating habits, an active lifestyle and encouraging children to bond with their families.

The event included a ‘breakfast movement’, where children and mothers were made aware of the importance of breakfast and ways in which breakfast could be made healthier and tastier; and asked to pledge to start their day with a healthy breakfast. It also featured fun activities, including on-ground games, entertainment items, various types of performances, music and food.
