‘Public awareness and beach cleaning’ in Akkaraipattu

13 January, 2019

The Akkaraipattu Base Hospital collaborated with the other organisations in the area to conduct a two-day ‘Public awareness and beach cleaning’ campaign under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project, recently.

The event focused on raising awareness of marine pollution and its deleterious impact, under the theme, ‘Keep our environment clean’.

A team comprising Akkaraipattu Base Hospital staff, volunteers, officials and staff members of the Akkaraipattu Municipal Council, Sun Rise Sports Club, The Walkers Union, ACE Sports Club, the YMMA, Mullaithivu Jummah Mosque, Akkaraipattu-03 RDS and FBC participated in the effort.

Under this program, garbage, waste and hard waste on the beach was collected and handed over to the Akkaraipattu Municipal Council for recycling and converting it into compost.

The Akkaraipattu beach is thronged with people daily.

The Akkaraipattu Base Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. I. M. Javahir, Akkaraipattu Base Hospital General Surgeon Dr. P. K. Ravindren, Quality Management Unit In-Charge Dr. M. J. Nowfel and many others were present at the event.
