The fourth Biennial Conference of the Sri Lanka Association for Child Development (SLACD) is due to be held on January 25-26 at the BMICH.

The conference will be on the theme ‘Every Child Matters’ and aims to highlight the importance and necessity in providing equal services to all children in Sri Lanka.

The two-day conference will facilitate the exchange of the expertise of 32 resource personnel in their chosen fields. The SLACD expects to attract over 200 participants.

This conference will include several plenaries, workshops and interactive learning sessions. There will be multiple speakers from various areas of expertise including child rights, education, cerebral palsy, autism, learning difficulties, supported employment and visual rehabilitation.

“We invite healthcare professionals, legal and educational experts from governmental, non-governmental and private sector from around Sri Lanka to participate in the conference. Parents will also benefit immensely from participating in this program,” a spokesman for the organisers said.

The aim of the conference is to develop the skills and knowledge of the participants in areas related to child rights, neurodevelopmental disorders and educational services available for children. It is important that Sri Lanka creates an equal opportunity for every child within the country.
