Spinner Kushan Madusha captures 11 wickets

Left arm leg spinner Kushan Madusha captured a match bag of 11 wickets as Mahinda College beat President’s College Kotte by an innings and 25 runs at Galle during the week.

He claimed 5 for 33 and 6 for 51 in the two innings of the Kotte boys. Ashen Kandambi (93) and Kaveesha Malliyawadu (93) batted well to boost the total of Mahinda College.

Valuable batting performances by Pasindu Sooriyabandara (77), Kavindu Madarasinghe 76 not out and penetrative bowling by Tharusha Ravindra (5/25), helped Royal College defeat Debarawewa National School by an innings and 129 runs.

Excellent bowling by Charith Harshana who claimed 5 for 13 and Pasindu Manupriya (4/13) and a top score of 99 runs by Shashika Dulshan and 51 Keshara Nimatha helped St. Servatius College, Matara beat Gurukula Kelaniya by 268 runs at Matara.

Two useful bowling performances by Yugeesha Dilshan (5/50) and Mudeesha Nishan (5/97) and valuable contributions from Irusha Ramanayake (97) and Pasindu Lakshitha (58) helped Sri Dharmaloka Kelaniya beat Bandaranayake Gampaha by seven wickets at Gampaha. Madawa Karunaratne 59, Sisitha Madanayake 53 and Gayshan Hettiarachchi (7/73) made useful contributions for the Gampaha school.

Two centuries were featured in the drawn game between Ananda and DS Senanayake played at Campbell Place.

Lakshitha Rasanjana scored 141 runs for Ananda while Pasindu Adithya scored 108 runs for DSS.

Avishka Perera scored 81 not out and Moksha Sankalpa scored 55 for Ananda College.

Chamod Fernando made a useful all-round contribution for St. Joseph Vaz in their drawn encounter against St. Mary’s Kegalle at Katuneriya. Fernando scored 52 and captured 5 for 32 while Yohan Maduwantha scored 51 for St. Joseph Vaz.

Gajitha Kotuwegoda scored a cautious 119 runs in the second innings of St. Mary’s.

Excellent bowling by Nethpahan Fernando (6/12) and Jayalath de Mel (5/33) helped Mahanama College Panadura crush Welapura MV by an innings and 105 runs at Kalutara.

Ravindu Salgadu batted well scoring 116 runs while Nethpahana Fernando scored 53 runs for Mahanama in their first innings.

Penetrative bowling by Nimnaka Jayathilake (6/17) and 67 by Asitha Wanninayake helped St. Anthony’s College Katugastota beat St. Thomas’ College Matale by an innings and 15 runs at Katugastota.

Shehan Avandya scored 67 runs and captured 5 for 105 for St. Thomas’.

Thevendram Dinoshan scored 118 not out, his second for St. John’s College Jaffna in their drawn encounter against St. Thomas’ College Bandarawela. A. Abishek (69) and M. Abinash (58 n.o. and 60) scored half centuries for St. John’s in Jaffna.

Avishka Lakshan captured 5 for 13 to steer Kalutara Vidyalaya to victory by eight wickets over Holy Cross at Kalutara.

Sithum Sanjana scored 68 in Holy Cross’ second innings.

Dilhara Nanayakkara claimed 8 for 62 runs but could not thwart Kalutara Vidyalaya’s win.

Lahiru Wijeratne (72), Yohan Wijesuriya (68) and Oshan Munasinghe (72) batted well for Maliyadeva Model School Kurunegala who beat Sir John Kotalawala, Kurunegala by 220 runs at Boyagane.

Praveen Tennakoon (5/53) also contributed towards their victory.

Mahesh Bandara (6/46) bowled well for Sir John Kotalawala.
