CCC juniors win Under-13 inter-academy title

CCC School of Cricket won the U-13 Inter Academy Cricket Championship for the second successive year when they comfortably beat the hosts MCA in the tournament conducted by the Mercantile Cricket Association at M..C.A.ground.

CCC junior cricketers, led by Linal Subasinghe were unbeaten throughout the entire tournament, having won against S.A. Cricket Academy, Panadura Cricket Coaching School and NCC School of Cricket in the preliminary round of the tournament. In the quarter finals, CCC beat the strong NCC School of Cricket in the semi final.

In the final, MCA who batted first were restricted to 145 for 7 wickets in 30 overs.CCC in the run chase were helped by a hurricane 40 runs from opener Pravan Williams and a sedate innings of 62 not out by Sahana Dabare which gave them an easy wickets wickets win with six overs to spare.

Other players who figured prominently were skipper Linal Subasinghe, Sharujan Shanmuganathan, Pravan Williams, Uvin Perera, off spinner Prakash Gamaathige who took 13 wickets at an average of 6.8 and Tenushka Nanayakkara the other opening bowler. Sahan Dabare won the won “Handsome Player of the Final trophy.CCC team’s head coach, veteran Nelson Mendis and coach Manoj Millawithanachchi along with Lasantha Kumara were the men behind the scene.
