Cycle race in Hendala to mark National Day

The Nidahas Udana Flying Wheel Standard Papedi Sawariya will be held on Monday (February 4) to mark the 71st National Day celebration and organized by the Flying Wheel Cycling Association, Wattala to mark their 35th anniversary.

The race will begin at 8.30 pm at Kerawelapitiya junction, Hendala, Wattala and cover a distance of 115 kms. The rout will cover four rounds in Kerawelapitiya junction, Hendala, Mabole, Mahabage, Kandana, Pubudugama, Pinwatte, Uswetakeiyawa, Dickowita, Elakanda, Palliyawatte, Hekitta, Gala Junction and Hendala Junction.

The fifth and final round will be on the same route to Elakanda Junction and turn off to Nayakakanda finishing off at Kerawelapitiya Junction.

The winner of the Open event will be rewarded with Rs. 75,000 with the second and third places to receive Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively according to the organisers.

Cash prizes will also be presented to those who finish in the rest of the first fifteen places according to the organisers.

Winner of the U-23 category will receive Rs. 25,000, with Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 to be given away to the second and third places according to the organisers.
