Madhusanka passes 1500 and grabs 50 wickets

Kalana Madhusanka skipper of Seethawaka Central College Avissawella is enjoying a great season and has gone past 1500 runs and taken 50 wickets so far.

He is the most stand-out player so far in the current inter school cricket season and a lost more is expected from him.

But last week his team lost to Ananda Sastralaya Kotte as Chamindu Sathmina scored an unbeaten 80 runs while Dulantha Pehesara (71) and Ashan Ishira (62) also batted well. Avishka Dilshan bowled well to capture 5 for 42.

Kavishka Senadeera and Abishek Anandakumar shone for Trinity who beat St. Anthony’s Wattala by an innings and 83 runs as Asgiriya.

Senadeera captured a match bag of 11 for 70 runs and Abishek Anandakumar scored 111 not out while Shane Gunathilake scored 72 runs for Trinity.

Avishka Tharindu scored 85 for the Antonians.

Ayesh Harshana captured 8 for 19 to steer Thurstan to victory by 7 wickets over St. Thomas’ Matara in a low scoring match as Seneth Sithara claimed 5 for 13 runs for the Matara school.

Nishan Madushka scored 114 runs for Moratu Vidyalaya who beat St. Mary’s Kegalle by an innings and two runs in a low scoring game.

Gajitha Kotuwegoda scored 52 for St. Mary’s.

Monoharan Pavithran captured 5 for 33 while Nadeera Balasuriya scored 50 not out for St. Sylvester’s Kandy in their drawn game against St. Benedict’s. Malinda Perera captured 5 for 13 for St. Benedict’s.

Dunith Jayatunge scored 104 while Nuwanidu Fernando captured 4 for 7 runs for St. Sebastian’s in their drawn game against Dharmaraja.

Dulaj Bandara (79), Kasun Gunawardena (74) and Thushan Herath (6 for 57) shone for the Rajans.

Kavishka Tennakoon (61), Dilshan Ratnayake (63) and Adithya Bandara (7/35) performed well for Vidyartha who beat Sri Jayawardenepura MV by eight wickets in Kandy.

Kanishka Maduranga scored 59 for the Kotte lads.

Thiventhiran Dinoshan scored 79 for St. John’s College Jaffna in their drawn game against Sri Devananda.

Pasindu Dhananjaya (65) and Sohan de Livera (53) batted well for the Devans.

Dinusha Mendis scored 115 and Dewmina Ekanayake 64 for St. John’s College Nugegoda in their drawn game against Bandaranayake Central.

Mendis also captured 6 for 30 for St. John’s.

Hansaja Hiruna (58) and Samindu Shahen (5/38) shone for Loyola College Negombo who beat Gonsalves Pamunugama by 74 runs. Dilshan Perera claimed 5/50 for Gonsalves College.

Hansaka Jayawardane captured 5/11 runs while Harsha Devasinghe scored 55 as Wayamba Royal beat DS Senanayake NS Ampara by seven wickets at Ampara.

Hasantha Madhura scored 71 not out for DS Senanayake NS.

Menusha Sachintha (5/22), Omesh Lakmal (5/62) and Roshana Wickremasinghe (67) contributed towards Vijitha Central’s win by six wickets over Sandalanka Central at Dickwella.

Adithya Siriwardane scored 97 for Richmond College in their drawn game against Gurukula College Kelaniya at Bulathsinhala.

Kemira Nayanatharu scored 69 and Nuwan Chanaka 55 for Gurukula.
