Colombo City Centre celebrates Independence Day

10 February, 2019

To commemorate the milestone of the 71st year of Sri Lankan Independence, Colombo City Centre (CCC) conducted a series of fun events that captured the spirit of unity, harmony, and nationhood on Independence Day. Aptly titled “Freedom is an Emotion,” these celebrations took place from 2nd to 4th February at the Colombo City Centre Mall.

Customers visiting the mall during this period got the opportunity to express what freedom meant to them and have their thoughts encapsulated in the form of a Doodle Art drawn by a famous artist. Plus, 10 lucky visitors received a free dessert which was specially developed by Colombo City Centre’s resident Michelin-inspired Dessert Bar , ‘House on the Moon’, especially for Independence Day. Other activities included a Kids’ Art Village, and thrilling ‘Minute to Win It’ Games. A special art installation of the map of Sri Lanka, embossed with the country flag’s colours, was also featured in the lobby area.

The USD 180 million joint venture between local retail giant, Abans, and Singapore-based Next Story Group, is one of Sri Lanka’s largest foreign direct investments in recent times, and rises 47-storeys above the heart of the city.

Honored as the ‘Most Promising Mixed Use Development’ by CMO Asia, ‘Asia’s Greatest Brand’ by AsiaOne Magazine and ‘Upcoming Mall of the Year’ among several other accolades by the Golden Globe Tigers, Colombo City Centre is a multi award-winning skyscraper dedicated towards transforming Sri Lanka’s capital into a global metropolis with the first integrated lifestyle complex of its kind.

This includes Sri Lanka’s first international Mall with high-end brands, a 700-seat Food Court and six-screen multiplex cinema, the upscale NEXT Hotel with 164 keys, and 192 luxurious residential units designed to offer unmatched views of the city, the Beira Lake, and the Indian Ocean.
