The High Commission of India, Colombo will present Ms. Meghna Das, an Odissi exponent from India at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre auditorium, 16/2, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7, tomorrow (18) at 6 pm.
Meghna was introduced early into the field of Indian Classical dance Odissi and gave her first public performance at the tender age of three at the Drama Centre in Singapore. Meghna started formal training in Odissi at the age of five under her mother Smt. Sahana Das, a highly experienced Odissi dancer and choreographer. Later Meghna joined Nrityagram and trained rigorously under their able guidance. Meghna was invited to join an Odissi dance ensemble Nrityantar led by the Guru Madhulita Mohapatra. As a part of Nrityantar, Meghna has performed in several recitals in and out of Bangalore.
Meghna has given solo, duet and group performances in India, Singapore and Thailand. Her fluidity, grace and adherence to the purity of the Odissi dance style has made her stand out as a brilliant dancer today.
