Wurth supports Sri Lanka’s first ‘Everest Stars’ – Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala and Johann Peries – to conquer the ‘Seven Summits’.

Jayanthi and Johann are on a mission to complete ‘The Seven Summits Challenge’ – which is to summit the highest mountains in each of the seven continents of the world after scaling two of the seven mountains: Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa in 2014 and Mt. Everest in Asia in 2016 and 2018.

The two mountain climbers, the only Sri Lankans to have scaled the world’s tallest mountain, are at the Argentinian Andes to climb the 6,962 metre Mount Aconcagua, the tallest mountain outside of the Himalayas.

The duo has selected the more difficult technical route along the Polish Glacier to attempt the summit. The Seven Summits Challenge is considered the ultimate goal for adventurers who will, upon completion, join the ranks of elite climbers.

Johann and Jayanthi hope to summit Denali in the United States in 2021, Elbrus in Russia in 2023, Vinson in Antarctica in 2025 and the Puncak Jaya in Indonesia in 2027. Würth sponsorship will play a significant part in helping them reach their goal.

Würth Lanka (Pvt) Ltd was established in 1998 under the Board of Investment regulations and was set up as a 100% owned subsidiary of Würth International AG, a global giant in Automotive Aftermarket which has diversified into Construction and Metal and Maintenance industry.
