Former fast bowler Nuwan Zoysa has cried foul that he was unfairly sidelined by Sri Lanka Cricket without an inquiry over alleged match-fixing and removed as a bowling coach.

“I will do everything within my means (legally) to prove that I am not guilty of any match-fixing which I have never being part of as a player and as a coach at any stage”, said Zoyza at a press conference last Thursday in Colombo.

He was the coach of the Sri Lanka second string A team and toured the West Indies and Bangladesh with the players after being appointed as fast bowling coach in 2015.

Zoysa said the only thing he knew about match-fixing was that an Indian national had approached him through and unnamed Sri Lankan coach which he rejected and turned his back on. “I can say that I only lapsed in not bringing this to the notice of the ICC,” said Zoysa.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) blacklists anyone who fails to provide information or knowledge of match-fixing whom they brand as collaborators.

Zoyza was found fault with for his failure to report the Indian man’s approach to the ICC.
