Rajans blessed with a good side

Dharmaraja College who tasted title glory in rugby for the first time in 2013 under the captaincy of Rochana Hettiarachchi, has a talented set of players this season with robust forwards and a speedy set of three-quarters and are hoping to finish among the first four teams in the inter school first round league tournament. Founded in 1887, Dharmaraja College played its first rugby game in 1972 and has produced many top players who have represented club and Sri Lanka rugby

This season the side is coached by an experience Sanjaya Amunugama a product of St. Anthony’s College with years of coaching experience and his assistant is also another experience man Buddika Abeyasinghe.

Badula Kumara is the physical trainer and manger.They have some keen rugby followers like Sameera Pinnaduwa the President of Old Rajans Sameera Pinnaduwa, Malinga Godigamuwa the Secretary, Indika Udayakumara the Treasurer and Ashvin Kalinga Media Coordinator.

This year the side will be led by Manuka Hiyarapitiya who is capable of leading from the front and he has two vice captains Malintha Rajapakshe and Tharinda Kapuwatta. Other senior players are Dulanja Kumara, Lasantha Basnayake, Naveen Dissanayake, Dinesh Chathuranga, Harsha Rodrigo, Visal Udangamuwa, Chanidu Abeyrathne, Kasun Karunarathna, Madushanka Nawarathne, Sajeewa Dilantha and Gaurawa Pannila.

Their first game is today against St. Sylvester’s College at Bogambara.
