What a day!

The So Lanka Ironman Colombo saw 775 men and women participants from 58 countries in action. The race began with the 1.9 km Sea Swim followed by the three lap 90km biking and the half marathon covering a distance of 21 km.

Tim Ballintine of Australia with a time of (04:10:13) won the So Sri Lanka 70.3 Triathlon held around the city of Colombo last Sunday. He was followed by Pierre Lafayeedney (04:20:22) of the United Kingdom and Mats Allen (04:27:12) of the United States.

In the women’s category Ling Er Choo (04:41:39) of Singapore took major honours in the 30-34 year age class Kimberly Mckinney (04:43:22) of Australia 30-34 finished second and Inge Prasetyo (04:52:32) of Indonesia 35-39 third.

The team event saw Sri Lanka Navy’s trio take first place clocking 04:01:14 to outdo all other foreign teams. The first runner-up also was from Sri Lanka with Team Foundation Of Goodness 04:26:25 and UAE Lekka Tri finishing second runner-up with a time of 04:33:43.

The top three Best Achievers for Sri Lanka in the 18-24 age group category were Ashwin Doranegama 04:41:18 2, Asith Perera 04:43:12, in 30-34 age class and Sampath Bandara 04:44:14 in the 18-24 class.

So Sri Lanka IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo was organised by Pro Am Serendib with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau as the title sponsor.
