EDB to support women entrepreneurs

10 March, 2019

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) is implementing programs to mark International Women Day this year.

There are more than 800 women entrepreneurs registered with the EDB Women’s cell. This cell, after analysing their profiles has identified that there are some economic, social and physical barriers preventing them from entering the international market.

Although they encounter several difficulties, they have failed to identify the bottlenecks which hinder them to enter the international market.

They often face a set of challenges when working in a competitive, complex business environment. Women entrepreneurs face difficulties in export procedure.

Taking these into consideration, it was proposed to organize a two-day workshop on a Business Plan Preparation in collaboration with Sampath Bank at the EDB.

The first day of the workshop on Business Plan Preparation for 20 export ready women entrepreneurs was held on March 5, 2019 at the EDB.

The next program will be be held on April 24, 2019 at the EDB.
