The Schools Colours Awards organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Sports Council in Association with the Ministry of Education for the years 2016 and 2017 are scheduled to be held on April 4 at the BMICH in Colombo.

This was revealed to the media by Sunil Jayaweera the Sports Advisor to Education Minister at a press briefing held on Wednesday at the CR & FC pavilion.

Addressing the media he said that the Awards ceremonies for 2016 and 2017 could not be held due to unavoidable reasons and at this year’s awards ceremony more than 800 girls and boys who excelled at school sports will be bestowed with honours for achievements in 2016 and 2017.

The event which was initiated by the Ministry of Education with the aim of developing sports at school level has the fullest backing of sponsor Nestle Lanka since its inception.

“In fact the Awards ceremony is called by all as the ‘Milo Awards’ because of the Company’s commitment towards sports promotion in Sri Lanka Schools,” said Jayaweera.

In addition to these there will also be special awards for Emerging Sportsman and Sportswomen while the two major Awards, the Most Outstanding Sportsman and Most Outstanding Sportswoman too for both years are to receive Awards.
