Natural meat products from Ma’s Kitchen

Ma’s Tropical Food Processing (Pvt.) Ltd has diversified its food producing business by adding speciality meat products under its Pepper Valley Farm label.

The company, which started operations manufacturing spices and a variety of curry powder products, has diversified over the years to encompass several other areas.

The new company, Pepper Valley Farm in Matale, practises the farm to fork concept, so that customers can rest assured that the products they purchase carry the Ma’s Kitchen seal of approval throughout the process, a company spokesman said.

CEO Pepper Valley Maliek de Alwis said, “Today’s consumer is conscious of his food choices, and more concerned about where their food ingredients are sourced from. Consumers of processed meats are more conscious of the origin of ingredients and the level of processing involved. This is definitely a step in the right direction for consumers and food manufacturers.

“We strive to ensure that the products we deliver to customers are safe and reliable and the best way to do that is to take control of the entire process, from farm to fork, which is what the Pepper Valley project strives to do. Our pork products are made with meat sourced from our farm and absolutely no fillers or extenders are used for any of our meat products. Even the locally available spices and herbs are also grown on the farm,” he said.

No fillers, meat extenders, MSG or artificial flavours are used and the products are flavoured with spices and herbs. Pepper Valley chicken sausages are made using only breast and thigh meat and no mechanically deboned meat is used.

Pepper Valley is part of MA’s Tropical Food Processing (Pvt.) Ltd. The corporation is based in Colombo with factories in Dambulla, Matale, Minuwangoda and Iyakkachchi.
