The Third Edition of Madhubhashini Disanayaka Ratnayake’s Gratiaen Prize winning novel, There is Something I Have to Tell You was brought out on April 2, at the Innovate Sri Lanka Exhibition held by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura to celebrate its 60th Anniversary.

The book was presented to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Sampath Amaratunge, its Registrar, G. Britto, writer Elmo Jayawardene, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya of the Department of Social Studies, Open University, and Dr. Harshana Rambukwella, Director, Postgraduate Institute of English, Open University.

Madhubhashini is a senior Lecturer at the Department of English Language Teaching, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Harshana Rambukwella said, the very fact that a third edition was coming out of an English novel written in Sri Lanka is testimony to its merit, and it is important that the era the novel talks about is not forgotten. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said, though she had first felt a sinking of the heart when she heard of the subject matter of the novel, she enjoyed reading it, but more importantly, felt that it was in a much needed reflection of a difficult period in the country.

The Third Edition has been published by Sarasavi Publishers
