Term limit: No decision from Prez to seek second SC opinion

Despite several opinions on the possibility of seeking a further clarification on President Maithripala Sirisena’s term of office,from the judiciary, UPFA parliamentarian Mahinda Amaraweera told the Sunday Observer that the President has not yet taken any decision so far. The President has not even told us anything about it,” said MP Amaraweera.

General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, MP Dayasiri Jayasekara told the media on Tuesday about the probability of seeking the Supreme Court opinion on the date on which President Sirisena’s term ends.

“There is no discussion about it even within the party. Only some legal experts including advisors to the President had instructed the President about the possibility,” added MP Amaraweera.
