Saudi to provide Riyal 187.5 m to set up Sabaragamuwa medical faculty

The Saudi Arabian government has agreed to provide a concessional loan of 187.5 million Saudi Riyal to set up a fully equipped Faculty of Medicine at the Sabaragamuwa University, Ratnapura.

Essentially needed infrastructure facilities will be constructed and the students will be provided state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities (laboratory and other equipment) that would facilitate in providing world-class medical education.

A delegation headed by Secretary, Ministry of Finance Dr. R.H.S. Samratunga Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education Priyantha Mayadunne and the Director General of the External Resources Department Priyantha Rathnayake recently visited Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for negotiations in this regard.

They held discussions with the delegation of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) headed by Mohammed Aldolailan, Acting Director General, Operations Department and Advisor to the SFD, Alobaid, Bandar Abdullah O., Engineer (Project Manager) and the Alrashed, Mohammad Abdullah M. , Engineer (Project Manager)
