Malinga concedes 328 runs

Contrary to what Sri Lanka Cricket had hoped for, fast bowler Lasith Malinga is not having a worthy IPL championship and has conceded as many as 328 runs while taking just 12 wickets from nine matches playing for the Mumbai Indians.

He has bowled 33.5 overs to concede the 328 runs with an economy rate of 9.69 which is almost 10 runs an over and a strike rate of 16.9. His average is 27.33.

The Sri Lanka squad will leave for the World Cup in England and Wales on Monday minus Malinga who has been permitted to play in the IPL.

Players from England and Australia have already left the IPL to be with their respective teams ahead of the World Cup.

One of them is Australia’s revitalised David Warner who left the IPL after 12 matches with a highest aggregate of 692 runs that had 21 sixes and 57 fours while playing for Sunrises Hyderabad.

The leading bowler in the IPL is South Africa’s Kigaso Rabada who has an intake of 25 wickets from 12 games while conceding 368 runs from 47 overs playing for the Delhi Capitals.

The IPL is now at its closing stages ahead of the May 12 final in Hyderabad.
