Bathutha House emerged victorious for the year 2019, enhancing its performance at almost all their events in the recently concluded inter-house boys’ sports meet of Hejaaz International School (HIS) at the De Soysa Stadium, Moratuwa.
Saadiqul Ameen, Amri Munthasir, Nahthy Hussan Ashar, Abdur Razzak Nilam, Muhammad Sheriffdeen and Rahil Adhil emerged champions in their age categories in the track and field events. The karate drill display, band display, parents’ tug – o – war and old boys’4 x 100m relay entertained the spectators.
The sports meet was opened by Principal Zarina Mohideen Hizbullah with the hoisting of the lion flag, the school flag, the house flags and the games flag. The school anthem was sung followed by the oath which was taken in unison by the entire school.
The colourful meet ended with the squads of the houses and the prefects’ guild, parading around the stadium to the rhythm of the school band amid a standing ovation from parents, old boys’, students, staff and well-wishers of the school.
