British racing showed their sympathy and solidarity for their friends in Sri Lanka by associating an entire day’s racing at their newest race course, Chelmsford City, with the island.
Beginning with the “Sri Lanka Wonder of Asia Novice Stakes”, moving on to the “Sri Lanka Paradise Island handicap” 30 minutes later, followed by the “Amazing Sri Lanka Fillies Handicap”, “Sri Lanka staying strong “ Handicap, “Beautiful Sri Lanka Stakes”, “Support Sri Lanka Novice Stakes” and finally at 8-30 pm or 1 AM Sri Lanka time, this evening the Race Meet concluded with the “Sri Lanka Unbowed” Handicap - a sprint race over five furlongs.
In addition, Chelmsford race course authorities have indicated that they intend making a substantial donation from the day’s revenue to help those in need after the horrific events on Easter Sunday.
