The buildings burnt
Can be, of course, rebuilt,
The things looted or stolen
You see, can be replaced,
The loss of your wealth
Little by little can be regained,
The things forgotten or misplaced
Can be found or recovered,
The treasured monuments broken
You know, can be repaired,
Yet, if human life snuffed out
Can it ever be...?
