“Early to bed early to rise”

“Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”, is the popular saying that one of my bosses once advised me (a late riser) to follow. When I asked him in turn, why he had only 1 out of these attributes, although he was always ‘up with the Lark’, my little “joke” did not go down too well.

Nevertheless, some notables in the ‘Millionaire league’, (notably Americans), wake at the crack of dawn- Here are some of them-

US President Donald Trump – starts “Tweeting” at 5 AM!

George W Bush and his father, George Bush senior (a billionaire), also both US past -presidents

Jack Dorsey- the Founder and CEO of Twitter

Richard Branson-of Virgin Airlines fame- this eccentric Billionaire has a fortune of $ 4,100 million- (read more about him in our Feature article on page 15)

“APPLE” Chief Executive and Billionaire- Tim Cook – starts the day at 3-45 AM!

L Rafael Reif- President of MIT- (Massachusetts Institute of Technology –probably the greatest Technology school in the World).

Scientist Benjamin Franklin

Warren Buffet – Investor/ Billionaire

UNILEVER CEO- the Dutchman, Paul Polman

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz - gets to office by 6 am.

The ladies are not to be outdone in the’ early morning list’

- among them -

Pepsi Cola CEO- Indra Nooi (an Indian woman based in the USA).

Yet another Indian American woman

Cisco CTO Padmasree Warrior,

Michelle Obama

Oprah Winfrey – Showbiz personality

AVON make up products CEO- Chinese-American Andrea Jung.

 

Other, less early risers, who start the day at around 8 am, are Mark Zuckerberg, Musician Jay Zee, and AMAZON founder Jeff Bazos.

Not all celebrity millionaires or Sports people get up early. When in the sixties, The Beatles were asked to start the day at 6am, one of them Paul McCartney replied-“I didn’t know that such a time existed”. (‘I’m asleep”).
