Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera last week lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding a fabricated letter with his forged signature.
The fake letter dated June 3, on a Parliament letterhead addressed to Pope Francis, attributed to the Minister, purportedly calling on the Pope to conduct an investigations into the actions of Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
“The fabrication of a Parliament letterhead and a Minister’s signature are serious matters as is the fabricated content of the letter, and action has accordingly been taken to lodge a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department of the Sri Lanka Police requesting that this matter be investigated immediately,” a statement issued by the Minister said.
