St. Peter’s College showed no mercy as they smashed Trinity College by 32 points to 7 in their inter school League rugby match at Bambalapitiya yesterday where the Kandy school had almost no spectator support.

The Peterites scored five tries two of which were converted after taking a 20-0 at half time.

Trinity never looked like making a match of the proceedings after they conceded a penalty in the opening stages of the match for Peterite full back Thenuka Nanayakkara to kick the ball through the uprights.

From then on it was a one-sided match as the Trinitians managed to score a consolation try when the Peterites were reduced to 14 players midway in the second half.

One of the Peterite players who ran circles around the Trinitians was their play-maker and scrum half Raveen Fernando who is nicknamed Kadiya for his creepy moves on the field. He scored the best try of the match when he ran through the defences covering 60 metres which marked the second try of the Peterites early in the first half.

Peterite winger Ishan Fernando was also another player Trinity could not stop as he scored the fourth try to ensure his side grabbed a valuable bonus point.

The Peterites sealed the result in the final minute of play when their full back Nanayakkara joined the line and crashed through the defence a few metres away from the line.

Collectively Trinity lost the match up-front against a powerful Peterite pack that also produced two tries.
