Four boys from the Thanamalwila and Moneragala areas under the tutelage and care of the Chief Incumbent of the Ganewatte Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, Most Ven. Shasthrapathi Kithalagama Nandasara Thera were ordained as novice monks at the temple recently.
S. Dilusha Chaturanga, aged 12, a grade seven student at Bodagama MV, Thanamalwila was ordained as Ven. Thanamalvila Sulochana, U.K. Deneth Devindu, a Grade 6 student, aged 11, at the same school was ordained as Ven. Thanamalvila Supunna, K.A. Vihanga Sandakelum, aged 11, a grade six student at Bodagama MV, Thanamalvila was ordained as Ven. Hambegamuwe Subhadhana and K.A. Hirusha Dinuranga, aged 9, a student at Hambegamuwe Primary School was ordained as Ven. Hambegamuwe Sudhara Thilaka Podi Sadu.
Friends and relatives, of those ordained, were present at the Pevidi Pinkama (ordination ceremony).
The Chief Incumbent of the Ganewatte Purana Raja Maha Viharaya has ordained over 90 boys during the past six years at this temple and 55 monks, including novice monks reside at the temple.
