St .Anthony’s Girls School, Katugastota emerged champions for the third successive year at the annual Girls Schools Provincial Softball Cricket Tournament concluded at Rahula College ground, Katugastota last week. The tournament was conducted by the Department of Education (CP).
St. Anthony’s Girls School beat Galewela National School in the final.
Galewela National School scored 48 runs in seven overs and St. Anthony’s reached the target in 6.3 overs.
Twenty teams participated and last year’s runners-up, Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy lost to Galewela National School in the quarter-final.
Kumbiyangahaela Maha Vidyalaya finished in third place. The first three schools will participate at the All Island Cricket tournament which will be held later in the year in Colombo. -UJ
