Outstation Boys & Girls U-12 Soccer Champs

 

The All-Island Schools under-12 Boys and Girls Football Championship organised by the Schools Football Association in association with Nestle Lanka Ltd. was held on June 22 and 23 at the Jayatilleke Stadium, Nawalapitiya. Babul Hassan Vidyalaya, Kegalle and Pallekanugala MV, Kegalle boys and girls carried away the Champion Trophies.

This championship was also used as the selection trial to find the best juveniles-seven boys and one girl to tour Barcelona for the World Juvenile Championship to be held in September.

The Lankan boys and girls will play against other participating teams consisting five boys and one girl. An eight-member-team from Sri Lanka is to be selected soon at trials scheduled to be held at the Vernon Fernando Stadium, Kalutara.

Results from the Nawalapitiya second stage - Quarter Finals:

Boys: St. Henry’s, Jaffna beat Hameed Al-Husseinie MV, Colombo 2/1. Babul Hassan Vidyalaya, Warapola beat Gateway International, Rajagiriya 2/0. Al-Ameen Vidyalaya, Kinniya beat Wickramabahu MV, Gampola 1/0. St. John’s, Jaffna beat Goal & Gate International, Beruwala 2/0.

Girls: Bendiwewa MV, Polonnaruwa beat Mahajana College, Jaffna 2/0. Maliyadeva BMV, Kurunegala beat St. Mary’s Vidyalaya, Trincomalee 2/1. Pallekanugala MV, Kegalle beat Kavisigamuwa MV, Kurunegala 4/3. Kadala Wela MV, Polonnaruwa beat C.W.W. Kannangara MMV, Galle 2/1.

Semi Finals:

Boys: Babul Hassan Vidyalaya, Kegalle beat St. Henry’s, Jaffna 3/2. Al-Ameen Vidyalaya, Kinniya beat St. John’s, Jaffna 2/1.

Girls: Bendiwewa MV, Polonnaruwa beat Maliyadeva BMV, Kurunegala 1/0. Pallekanugala MV, Kegalle beat Kadalawala Wela MV, Polonnaruwa 2/0.

Finals:

Boys: Babul Hassan Vidyalaya, Kegalle beat Al-Ameen Vidyalaya, Kinniya 3/2 (in tie breaker)

Girls: Pallekanugala MV, Kegalle beat Bandiwewa MV, Polonnaruwa 2/0 (in tie breaker)
