Long distance express trains should not stop at Panadura

The train service follows an operational systems which has to be reviewed periodically with the growing population to see that the passengers are given the proper travelling comfort to the amounts that they pay as the ticket cost.

The train service in Sri Lanka is not so developed to provide that comfort for passengers. Though they don’t receive a seat to travel comfortably to their destination, let’s make at least a comfortable standing position with oxygen to breath until they reach the destination to evade being unconscious.

The issue develops, especially in the evening as except Ruhunu Kumari and Samudradevi, other express trains stop at Panadura which is just 30 Km from Colombo.

People in and around Panadura can travel comfortably on slow trains operating from 3.30 pm to 9.35pm passing Panadura up to Kalutara and Aluthgama.

When express trains stop at Panadura, most Panadura bound travellers find comfortable seats by boarding the trains from Maradana and Colombo Fort after office and heavily occupy the entrance and the compartment in a chockablock state which long distance travellers boarding from Kollupitiya, Bambalapitiya and Wellawatta find distressing as they are unable to board the train due to these foot-board travellers.

Anybody could witness the crowd disembark at Panadura from long distance express trains, which reduce the passenger capacity by 50 percent.

One has to take into account the long distance travellers who could not board the train from from Kollupitiya, Bambalapitiya and Wellawatta because of this crowd.

The Railway Department can solve the issue by plying long distance express trains without stopping at Panadura.
