Cleaning up the beach

14 July, 2019

Two years ago a group of likeminded friends formed a travell club, Busy Travellers under the leadership of Pathum Sampath. Its primary aim was to create a group of enthusiasts to travel to the four corners of our motherland to explore its beauty and assist to protect our environment. During the past two years the group has completed nearly three dozen trips in Sri Lanka that are well documented in their dedicated Facebook page Busy Travellers, which has nearly 45,000 followers as of now. To celebrate their second anniversary Busy Travellers organised a campaign to clean up the beach area from Mount Lavinia to Dehiwela.

From morning till afternoon group members managed to fill dozens of garbage bags with the litter on the beach.

Busy Travellers thanks Nishamani and Kolitha of the Dehiwela Mount Lavinia Municipal Council who offered assistance by providing vehicles to transport the collected garbage. - MW
