were here
They were there
And
They were everywhere
On other days.
Wake me up
Early in the mornings
And
Warn me of any
Unexpected visitors arrivals.
Scatter everything around
And
Spoil the tidy garden too.
They were an asset sometimes
And
A nuisance at times.
But
They are not here, there or anywhere today,
When I needed them the most.
No need to wake me up again or
To warn me of any visitors’ arrival.
Come back
And untidy the garden again
But take my humble offerings
At least
On every “Saturday” mornings, please!
